Grounded (revised)

First of all, I am not sure if this would be considered "mature" or not being that there is not that much showing. But ladies, if it is "too much" for the general public, feel free to move her over to the Red Curtain. No worries. :) I just never am quite sure what would be considered too mature for PD. So, it is up to you guys. :)Now then...
If you take a look at my gallery, you can pretty much tell that I love to draw fairies. I have never colored one of my own characters digitally and wanted to try it out. So I designed this fairy who is rather beat up actually as you can tell from her torn wings. She also has the shackles on her wrists and her ankle to show that she won't be going anywhere any time soon. Of course it is a bit symbolic of my life at the moment. And I have no idea what she is looking at. You'll have to use your imaginations on that one. Perhaps she is looking at the person who will set her free. Yes, another metaphor.
I am also going to do another version of this. I am going to color her in golds and reds just to see what that will look like. I hope you guys like her. I worked my butt off. You won't believe how many colors I put just into her skin to try to make it look a bit realistic.  Man that was tough. There are still a few parts (the skirt mainly) that could use some more work, but I decided I would leave well enough alone for now. Enjoy. Love you all. ^_^

Edit... Okay guys, I think I have fixed the mouth now. Let me know. I could go back and make it darker, but I think I am sick of this one now. Besides, I still have the gold and red version I will be doing.  I think this looks much better now. ^_^

Hey, she looks like an Egyptian with that necklace and tattoo ornament on her wrist. She looks like one of those frescoes on a wall inside a pyramid or temple. That's just my association with Passover which we're having this week hehe!Smile Anyways, well done as always.Yes I love her wings! They look like withering flower petals, her expression and her pose is great too. The hands are looking especially good.Big Smile THawall of mist behind her also makes it look like she's got nowhere to go.Yes Well done hun! Luv it. Favorite

Eep! I missed this one. Luverly, mine darling. I agree with the skirt comment, but all in good time, right? Whenever you feel like it.

Do you have a bigger version of this you might be able to send to me? Innocent

    All my love!

Sadly,no... I am afraid I shrink them before I color them because my computer is so weighed down right now. I seriously need to go through my files and free up some space on it. That way I can keep larger files and not slag my computer out so much. And I am never any good when it comes to clothes. But still I try. That will come in time. As long as I keep practicing. My biggest problem is getting the folds and pleats to fall where they are supposed to. So my love, if you ever have any pointers on how to do that, please help me. Please please please? Well, I am going to go and respond to your PM now. I rub you so much.mwah!

Very cunningly placed necklace beady thing she's got there... won't do her much good when it gets a bit chilly though... someone get that fairy a coat and scarf, no wonder she looks so annoyed... Great work on this one m'dear, the colours are great!
    • Mar 19, 2006, 5:20:39 PM UTC
ANDY!!!! *glomps* Welcome back luv. I have missed you. I have been going crazy in this place without you to help me get there. XD Anywhoo, I am glad you like my fairy old chap. I am just now starting to get into the whole digital coloring thing which is why some of these don't look all that great. But just you wait until I develop my skills in Paint Shop even more. I am going to make some awesome shite. Much love to you sweetheart. *hugs*
  • Mar 15, 2006, 12:21:37 PM UTC
I must say you've done quite a good job on the coloring on the faerie, hun. The shading is very nice, too. You're very good at digital art. Keep up the good work.
    • Mar 15, 2006, 1:52:17 PM UTC
Oh my gosh... I honestly never thought anyone would ever say that about me. I have been trying to convince everyone that I absolutely suck at digital art. Laughing I never could understand it until I got this Corel Painter. And now I am addicted. Big Smile I have never colored any of my fairies before. Not even with markers or colored pencils. So I am glad it worked out on here. Thank you so much for your kind words sweetheart. You have truly made me feel awesome. All my love. *hugs*
  • Mar 14, 2006, 8:56:44 PM UTC
Nice color use. And the tattered wings is a nice touch. Kudos.
    • Mar 15, 2006, 10:18:26 AM UTC
Why thank you. I was hoping the wings would have turned out how I wanted them to. And I am planning on doing another version of this one but only in reds and golds. I hope that will turn out just as nice. Thanks again for the awesome comments. *hugs*
  • Mar 14, 2006, 6:58:35 PM UTC
OH, very pretty. I love her wings. Very nice job.
    • Mar 15, 2006, 10:20:09 AM UTC
Thank you Karen. Smile I am so glad that you like her. And I still absolutely LOVE your Labyrinth avatar. I really want to learn how to make my own avatars. Mine would probably end up really funny though. Knowing me and my personality. Wink Thanks again hun. All my love to you. *hugs*

Wow, there's so much to this work, I don't know where to begin. It brings out a lot of emotions. The first one that came to mind was determination. She seems determined to break through her prison even though it appear that there is no way to do so. I see her as being very strong willed and capable. She also makes me sad, like she put herself into this prison and wasn't exactly "forced" into it. Very deep. Great job. It really is very stunning!
    • Mar 15, 2006, 10:24:33 AM UTC
Worship That is the first time I think that anyone has ever really understood the feelings behind my work. Of course alot of my "darker" pics are completely metaphoric of either my life or the life of someone I know and love. This one (with the chains and all) is pretty much symbolic of my dark feelings and being trapped in them. Like heartache and sickness and all of that. So you were completely right on with the emotions from this one. Thank you so much for completely understanding this drawing. You have no idea how honored I am. All my love. *hugs*
  • Mar 14, 2006, 2:02:27 PM UTC
Nice job I love the wings and the colors you used they seem to fit very well with the mood of the pic. Yes The lips could use just a bit more work but overall it's very nicely done Grin
    • Mar 15, 2006, 10:26:44 AM UTC
Aww, thank you sweetheart. Smile And believe me, I am actually working on fixing the lips right now. I have to scoot them over a bit because they aren't centered with the rest of her face. I don't know what I did thee. The funny thing is that in the larger version, it looks good actually. And looks normal. But when you view the smaller version, you can definitely tell the mouth is a bit off. So, I am going to be working on that today. All my love. *hugs*
      • Mar 15, 2006, 9:09:20 PM UTC
well I just checked out the revised version and the mouth looks perfect now! Yes And it's still completely awesome! I always love your piccy's Grin
        • Mar 16, 2006, 10:13:18 AM UTC
Thank you. I think I am about sick of that mouth at this point. Laughing But I think I managed to get her looking right now. Thank goodness. All my love. *hugs*

    • Mar 14, 2006, 12:38:46 PM UTC
Oh my God Chas, you have no idea how much time she took. >_< I don't even want to calculate the hours. Laughing But I did work my ass off on her and I am soooo proud of myself on how she came out. And one of these days I will go find that book or any book really that will help me with doing layers. >_< And I am glad you like her tattoos. I wanted them to look a bit like henna tattoos. I am glad you like her. Sorry there isn;t much boob in the pic though. Wink
      • Mar 14, 2006, 2:15:56 PM UTC

Oh man..what are you using? What program!? This is totally sweet! I love her hair! It looks sooo real! You have gotten way better my love it's beautiful! Her lips are a little off center but..who cares its beautiful all in all! I have to fav this one!! Favorite
    • Mar 14, 2006, 12:43:07 PM UTC
Thanks sweetheart. Smile I am using Corel Painter 9. I am absolutely in love with the program. Perhaps I will marry it. Big Smile It is so easy to understand though Mal. You have no idea. I always hated to try any digital coloring because I could never understand how to use the different features of the paint shop until I tried this Corel one. And I love it. And it only cost me about a hundred dollars. Seriously. Yes And trust me, if you could have seen her lips before this, you would definitely see that they have improved. I was talking to my friend Schmerz and he told me I should make them smaller so I did and this is how they ended up. Before her lips were big enough to swallow your head! Laughing But I am so glad you like her my darling. I am going to do another version of her in reds and golds. You know I can't get by without having some red. Wink All my love to you. Mwah!
      • Mar 14, 2006, 3:43:21 PM UTC
Well you did a great job and I sware I am gonna have to learn to do that sometime...it makes the art look ten times better! I love it! Great job once again...and I will talk to you soon! I love you!! MWAH!
        • Mar 14, 2006, 9:14:50 PM UTC
Aww, thank you honey. And yeah, this is a wonderful program to use. If you like, I can give you the URL for a free 30 day trial of the program I am using. I also have a tutorial put together on how to get started with it that I made for another member here. So if you'd like, I'd be more than happy to give you those. Just let me know sweetie. I love you too. But you already know that. Wink Mwah!
          • Mar 16, 2006, 1:42:25 PM UTC
Yup no problem! I love your art its beautiful! I will try it sometime but maybe on spring break because I am so tied down right now I am trying to get through school shit right now but when I can just sit down then I will have you show me. Thanks! Smile
  • Mar 13, 2006, 5:43:57 PM UTC
Well, technically there isn't anything showing, so I don't think it'll be considered mature. But then again, I'm still pretty new...
Anyway, once again, you've done a very nice job. I like the wings, and the torn-up...ness. And I like the (tattoos?) on her arm. And her skin does look pretty realistic. Corky Smile
    • Mar 14, 2006, 12:45:04 PM UTC
Heheh... thank you. I have never tried to do any kind of realistic type character in my painter beofre so I thought I'd give it a try. I think maybe next time I may just need to make the tones a bit darker to make them more real looking. I wanted her to look pretty beat up which is why I tore her wings. It adds to the feel of her being stuck here against her will. I am so glad you like it though. Thank you so much. *hugs*
