Name: Zingela Nyang'au

Occupation: Sangoma/Bagirwa

Backstory: The Brown hyena folk were a loose knit community of semi-nomadic fisher-beasts and shipwrights.  Once humans discovered gold and precious gems on their lands, they were practically exterminated, and their lands destroyed.  Survivors are now widely scattered across the continent, rarely seeing others of their kind.  

Current: The Sangoma of the Bouda, a clan of evolved striped hyenas who live in a giant baobab tree.  Zingela became the clan's healer, historian, teacher, storyteller, mage, and spiritual leader, after the previous Sangoma was killed by a feral lion.  Her scarred face and stern demeanor can scare the most rowdy pups into obedience.  When she grants an infant their name, they become an acknowledged clan member, and can no longer die without being mourned.  She is knowledgeable about stryx and gives young Fisi and Aya much advice on raising their tytos. 

Age: Upper end of middle aged.

Species: Brown Hyena (evolved)
Appearance: Tall anthropomorphic brown hyena.  Heavily scarred on left side of face.  Blind in left eye.  Wears bright dresses and shawls, and has strings of cowrie shells in her mane.

Personality: Friendly, but serious minded with a stern demeanor.  She is very intelligent, with much wisdom, but never acts like a know-it-all.  (Remember that school teacher all the kids were a little afraid of?  Add fur and that's her.)

Education: Full tribal Sangoma/Bagirwa training.  No formal education outside the hyena clans.

Relationships: None currently. Heterosexual, single.

Weapon: claws, teeth, staff, magic

Fighting Style: Diplomatic.  resorts to combat as a last resort
