Shout out to Charli , I stole some inspo for the shrooms on the manta's back from their awesome Faedin piece TwT
Originally I wanted to draw the Shroom Chathedral but then realized that upon arrival, Carm, a fallen angel, would likely have some resevations about entering a place of worship. Also I know it doesn't have a specific religion but for lore purposes let me have this XD
How could such a revolting and sinful being lay foot on these holy grounds? Carm reflected as she stood ashamedly just beyond the entrance of the narthex, encouraging her confidants to go explore while she calmed herself on a walk through Faedin's forests. As soon as her back was turned, the pain filled memories of regret plagued her mind as tears threatened to spill. She couldn't stay here any longer. Taking off in a blind sprint to conceal her vulnerability, Carmine choked back a sob, tearing through the low hanging branches of the understory. It wasn't until the ambient hustle and bustle of urbanization faded into the gentle sway of leaves that the Demon opened her watery eyes to find herself in an isolated grove bathed in the remnants of day's sunlight. In a swift motion, she lurches forward and cups her hand over her mouth, releasing a sorrowful wail into her fingers before crumpling to the forest floor. Was she really that shameless? How could she have the audacity to even consider entering the House of God? What a vile fool. A repulsive and traitorous IDIOT. Her tears cascaded as the light in the sky began to dim. Once the darkness settled, her cries were reduced to sniffles as a blanket of silence wrapped itself around her. She perked her ears, suddenly aware of the eerie stillness, staring into the abyss. After an elongated pause, the crest of her horn glows radiantly, flooding the grove with a scarlet luminescence. Only then does Carmine lock eyes with a creature a mere 7 inches away. She gasps and snuffs her light, backing into the darkness. Suddenly, the grove is relit, revealing a luminous manta ray adorned with glowing fungi, the same innocent peepers gazing into her. Its antenna light flickers, wobbling from side to side, slowly approaching Carmine before booping the tip of her horn. Realization sinks in and Carm stifles a strangled chuckle before relighting her crest, the creature letting out a joyful trill at the action. She calmly raised a hand to pet the ray, as the sky above her was illuminated by a squadron of glimmering kag mantas. Carmine stood mesmerized by the breataking scene before her, silently thanking the majestic critter for reminding her what she traded her halo for.
