Gabriel spent the first twenty-four years of his life rather uneventfully in his home villiage.  He was the son of a shoemaker and, despite having three elder brothers, he was taught the family trade and grew up with the understanding that he too would be a shoemaker.   Desite his daydreams and his currious nature,  the concept of working in his brother's shop for the rest of his life didn't bother Gabriel, until he met Eliza.  Until he proposed to Eliza.  Until Eliza turned him down flat.   That was when Gabriel decided that maybe he needed to do something else.  
Unfortunately for Gabriel, on the way to that something else, he met the notorious pirate captain Dimitri Resano.  Becoming a pirate was not the something else that Gabriel had in mind.  Now all he wants is to go home, but destiny has other plans.
