Brier has never been a fan of any sort of waste. In her time working for the rich, she saw the things they discarded and, sometimes. rescued them to make something new. This patchwork bag is pieced together from various items that were thown away over the course of her work. Though Briers stiches are typically small and neat, she's stitched along the patches in large black stitches as a kind of decoration.
She's held onto it because it holds a lot (more than it looks like, in fact). It's practical but she likes the colors and feels it also shows a little about who she is - someone who doesn't let things go to waste.
