Itai lives in an open platform, one story wooden house with a tall tall roof. They study ropes and spend much of their time gathering and trading for basic materials and food, then make and sell rope along with practicing tying and suspending themselves and others.

Itai grew up hatched from an egg without context and used to just get called bad and told to leave, due to his excitability and clumsiness. 

One day Itai, then called Paha Poika, met a ropes teacher and finally found a place to learn and grow. They calmed down and once they had learned all they could from their teacher, they were advised to move to a place in a forest with lots of bamboo to harvest and some room to grow food and build a house. they were given a new name to replace the name calling they had adopted as their own for a long time.
