Character Name: Harper Gildensol

Character Species: Elf/Goblin mix

Hair color: forest green

Eye color: dull gold

Harper grew up in a farming commune separate from most of the outside world, save for the traders that came to barter goods as well as stories. Born to an elven father and a goblin mother, they inherited some traits from both species, leading to a bit of teasing as a child. This made Harper develop some strong walls that made befriending others difficult, even within the insular community in which they were raised.

Until their mid 20s, Harper assumed they would inherit their father's elven lifespan, and hopped from hobby to hobby, career to career, unwilling to make any choice that would affect the rest of their presumably long life. However, a few tell-tale signs of aging began appearing much earlier than they should have for an elf, and Harper had something of a mid-life crisis; at least, that's what they called it, because they truthfully have no idea how long they will live. Goblin lifespans vary wildly, their mother already having passed peacefully of old age when Harper was a child; she was only 52. Suddenly, the thought of being trapped in the commune until death became a nightmare, and one night they gathered some materials and a riding llama and took off, leaving a note behind that only said, "I gotta see what else is out there - love you Pops".

Harper has no money, nor even a strong concept of money, as their commune used only a bartering system even with passing traders. While they are skilled in animal husbandry and basic farming, they have no other marketable skills, something they are hoping to address in their new life of an explorer. Similarly, the educators of the commune were focused more on practical life skills than history or culture, and so Harper often feels awkward around people. Coupled with the anxiety they developed at an early age, this leads them to keep to themself more often than not, though mostly as a defense tactic. In truth, they are quite lonely, and are looking for companionship of any kind on the road.

Harper stopped keeping track of their age a few years after learning they did not inherit an elven lifespan, and has taken up a rather convoluted form of meditation in order to mess with their concept of time. While this has had the desired effect of making them forget exactly how old they are, it also has exactly the kind of detrimental side effects one would imagine, and their concept of time as a whole is ... shawky, at best.
