No, I Won't Prank the Interns

Originally, the title was going to be, "No, I'm Not Pranking the Interns," but that was 2 digits too long so we have this instead. Nolous' formal ref went up a little bit ago, so I wanted to make something that showed him off in my painted style. I was aiming to leave this one less polished than I'm used to and to see what little things I could do to cut down on time, because I overwork myself and end up not doing as much art as I'd like as result. In that regards, this was a success- the quality is just as high as I'd like and was easier to complete.

As an additional note, meet Caloi! The crane you see nestled on his back is almost always by his side (which has nothing to do with how tired he looks, not at all). She's another significant character in TW.

Art and characters belong to me, and are for my sole use.

The depth is incredible, and then the tips of the wings coming over the tail? That is my favorite part about the howl drawing (apart from... Tho howl drawing)! The picture very much feels lively and brings in your attention. It gives you enough to look at, and I keep finding more things I enjoy in this picture every time I see it in my favorites!

Thank you for this amazing comment?? I'm glad the piece is enjoyed so thoroughly, I am proud of it and love the characters. I tried out a lot of things in this piece, and I still use quite a bit of them in my current pieces. With his wings in particular, I was working to add a good sense of weight to them, and part of that included how they rest on his tail, so I'm glad it is appreciated!

I like the details on the rug and the overall shading in this picture-it feels very lifelike. The title of this picture also gave me a chuckle Laughing

Thank you! I feel like I could've done better on the rug, but I was going for a persian rug, and the level of detail on those is insane! So I'm glad I hit a happy medium. Shading/lighting is one of my favorite parts of painterly pieces and it shows, haha! Unfortunately I haven't been doing too many in this style as of late because of my focus on concept art, but I look forward to the next time I do one.

Texturing is a favorite of mine, I'm an absolute sucker for that kind of stuff when I do painterly pieces haha. Thank you!

    Beautiful as always.

And I feel you on the overworking yourself thing. I do that too much as well.

Hopefully we both find our way to more suitable work styles soon, finding a good balance between time, effort, and results is satisfying. And thanks Smile

This is incredibly beautiful! I adore how you painted the texture of their skin/scales. Fantastic job <3

Thank you! I've been wanting to transition into a style where the brush strokes were more distinct and impactful, its a lot of fun seeing it come to life. Hopefully in future works I'll explore that road even further Smile
