Dead Man Walking

After Yuniku's death and Yugana's promotion to daimyo, peace seemed to have returned to the Meiyo castle. The two siblings still ruled together to an extent, Yuniku scaring off would-be assassins. However, the random attempts on Yugana's life kept worrying him... Yuniku's worry would prove justified when Yugana was kidnapped by the Crimson Dusk, the organization that cost the young lord his life. Yuniku wasn't about to let them get away with his beloved sister, collapsing the entrances to the castle. Though he killed most of the intruders, a small group of 4 managed to escape with Yugana. His lack of a physical form had rendered him powerless to stop them.

A day after the kidnapping, Yuniku visited a young witch. She had heard of the daimyo's distress, and he begged the witch to bring him back to life. However, as he led her to his grave, it proved impossible as Yuniku had already returned from the afterlife as a ghost. As a temporary solution, the witch crafted a body out of earthly materials similar to the human body. She incorporated shards of Yuniku's bones into it, so he could inhabit it.

The night of Yugana's planned execution, the Crimson Dusk were surprised by an undead army. The witch had brought their victims back from the dead, led by Yuniku in an assault on their base. It’s still unclear what happened, but rumor amongst the Meiyo servants has it that a quarter of the Crimson Dusk warriors fled at the sight of the undead army. They also say Yuniku's newfound physical form allowed him to slay at least 1000 Crimson Dusk members and Yugana donned the armor of a slain Crimson Dusk, and fought by his side once she was freed by the undead. Of course, is IS absolutely sure that Yugana returned unharmed.

Yuniku now still uses the body, but is limited to inhabiting it once a year, when the moon turns red. During the second week, he usually hides in his private quarters because he's embarassed about his body parts falling off. His physical form is usually described as having an 'unearthly glow', and smelling like the inside of a coffin. Due to this Yuniku, takes on the habit of keeping flower leaves in his kimono to mask the stench.
