The Bakusaiga's Purpose

What is Sesshoumaru's Bakusaiga for? Not only a weapon but a nail file for every Dai-youkai's (Tai-youkai?) manicure needs, especially when one's arm has just grown back. Another crazy idea popped up when talking with InuhanyouNikkie
