My Last Chance

Being stuck in the Dark Wood of Rion is the last thing you want to happen to you.

It's not feared for nothing you know. Even the Iven-mar were afraid of the Skefon, souls of those forgotten by the Hound, said to belong mostly to witches, because of the practice of tethering their souls to the Plane of Reality with a copper stake through the heart, some are even those who are hexed or cursed to never cross the Gates.

The Skefon there for cannot pas into any part of Deaths Domain, instead they remain in the land of the living, becoming feral and savage, crazed by their frustration, collecting dying organic matter to themselves to create a "Body", this usually rots though. They hunt in packs and tear apart anything that enters the wood.

It's in the wood of Rion where the last of the Cirentoth soldiers who defeated Issan-Bard forces met their death, sent there by Zirok to dispose of them. One of those men so happened to be our Scarecrow Lukevintar :D. Luckily (or unluckily) for him, death didn't mean true death, not when Kayis the witch is involved, see vowing eternal love to one another can sound like a romantic notion...but really it's a pain in the ar** when she decides to keep you tethered to her for the rest of eternity rotting in a dark stinky wood, with no one but your dead comrades to keep you company *sigh*, life can be so unfair!
But still...it's better than leaving...and having his soul torn from his body to join the Skefon hordes, to even step foot out of the wood would mean eternal damnation...not to mention a rather messy predicament, it's not everyday you have to hold your insides in when you step out of trees :D *goes mad*

Thanks! You know I was so proud of this, in a way I still am, and I'm glad I decided against doing the entire thing in watercolour instead

Wow great work Sleyf Thumbs Up

Its different than most fantasy duel/combat pics i've seen and i love the use of the blue (my favourite colour) Smile

I really like the lighting and how the shadows seem to draw attention to the faces of the two combatants without stealing focus from the rest of the pic.

However, this just might be me, it does seem to be lacking... something, but again that's probably just me

    Great pic

Heheh thanks so much, yeah blue s my favourite colour to use for some reason, especially for spectral-ish sort of things.

Yep yep I know what you mean by the lacking part, I originally wanted to put like sort of tree branches to fram the picture and make it seem more like in a wood, but then it didn't look proper and to do that would mean I'd have to sort out the lighting shadows the branches would cast...and I couldn't be bothered XD Grin
